About The Library

Library KV No.1 Alwar was started in 1965 with few books. Now the collection is around approx Seventeen thousand books on various subjects. Besides books it has 25 magazines, six newspapers and good collection of educational CD's and Digital study material.

The Library is open every day as per KVS norms. The interior of the library is designed in such a way that will attract the students and make them feel comfortable with sufficient lighting.
Class libraries are functioning for Classes I-V. Library follows an open access system. Books are classified and shelved according to the DDC scheme. The stock and Services has automated by using e-Granthalaya 4.0 Library management software. Every book is barcoded and circulated by using barcoding system.

The Library is organsing various activities and Competition like Day Celebration, Quiz Completion creative writing, Joy of Giving, My little book, poem reciting, book talk/discussion, Best readers, library volunteers, book exhibition and library visit to inculcate reading habit among the students.

 Library has established Class Room Library, Career & Guidance Corner, Reader’s Club, Suggestion Box, Teacher’s Corner, Creative Corner, Library Automation Corner, Photocopy, and Scanner & Printing Corner.

The library provides a welcoming learning environment for the students & teachers, supports the school’s aim and curriculum, encourage the love of reading and the development of students independent learning skills. 

Take the Books & Periodicals. Read Newspapers, Search the Internet and OPAC. Refer for Assignments and Projects of the students. Valuable Suggestions are always welcomed for the betterment of library services. Visit the library. You are most welcome......  

Aims of the Library

1. Supporting and enhancing educational goals as outlined in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s mission and curriculum.
2. Effectively participate in the teaching-learning programs of the school.
3. Be the knowledge hub of the school and disseminate knowledge as widely as possible.
4. Facilitate optimal use of knowledge & library service for over all growth and development of the students.
5. To create and development self reading ability and interest among the student and staff.
6. To assist the students to become skilful and discriminating users of library.
7. To workout a programme in consultation with teachers for the effective use of all types of library material.
8. To encourage participate in co- curriculum activities.
9. To provide healthy environment for silent reading.

11. To provide ethical values through books to mold the students into good citizens 12. To play a positive role in the progress and development of the nation.

Library Automation

  • The library is  fully automated  with e -Granthalaya 4.0 library software.
  • e -Granthalaya library software is used for automating the library housekeeping operations.
  • Every book is Bar coded.
  • Bar code scanner is used to read the bar code labels of books as well as members members.
  • Circulation of books is doing with e -Granthalaya library software (Automatically as well as manually).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

HOW CAN I SEARCH FOR A BOOK?

In search text box, type the title of the book, subject, author or any keyword or word in the title and click Search button. The books will be displayed with details like status of availability, to whom issued and number of reservations. If book is issued, you can reserve the book by clicking Reserve Icon.

HOW TO RESERVE A BOOK?

A book can be reserved only if it is under circulation or under reservation. Search for the book in the catalog as above. When results are displayed, click the Reserve Icon and provide your Library Card Number.HOW TO CHECK RESERVATION STATUS OF A BOOK/MEMBER?
To know your status for a reserved book type you Library Card Number and select the option Card No and click Get Status button.
To get the reservation status for a particular book types the Accession Number of the book and click Get Status button.

HOW TO SUBMIT A BOOK REVIEW?

Type your reviews in Microsoft Word and sent it to your library blog. You can also write it neatly on a sheet of paper and submit to the Librarian.or best way is to write in your note book get it checked n use it as your anecdotal record in academic session.

CAN I SUGGEST A BOOK?

If you find any useful book which is not available in your library, feel free to suggest the book either in the suggestion register or e-mail to the Librarian or by using the Suggest a Book link at the library website.

CAN I DONATE A BOOK?

Why not? Your donations will help us to strengthen our library collection. Donate only original editions of books which are in good physical condition.

WHAT DOES ‘G’ STAND FOR IN THE ACCESSION NUMBER OF A BOOK?

‘G’ stand for ‘Gratis’ which means free and all the books received free of cost to the library will be entered in a separate register and will have the prefix ‘G’ with the Accession Number.

CAN I ISSUE A BOOK OTHER THAN OUR LIBRARY PERIODS?

It depends. If any other class is having their library period, then your request may not be entertained. Otherwise, you may issue a book on your free periods and with the permission from the teacher concerned.
