The theme for National Library Week 2024, "Drawn to the Library"!" 

The theme for National Library Week 2025 was "Drawn to the Library". This theme celebrated the many reasons people are drawn to libraries, highlighting them as centers for information, creativity, and community, and was observed from November 14-20, 2025.

Aim of National Library Week Celebrated in India

Bringing awareness among the readers, students, teachers about the importance of libraries in acquiring knowledge and information.

National Library Week is celebrated from 14^th-20^th November every year. Special morning assembly programmes and different competitions are organized in connection with National Library Week. On this auspicious occasion some presentations related to the library, has been presented by the students and teachers in Morning Assembly as well as library with the help of Reader’s Club. The celebration of National Library Week is a way to promote the joy of reading, appreciate the importance of the library services among children by bringing their school libraries into the spotlight.

Ayyanki Venkata Ramanaiah, who is recognized as “The Architect of Public Library

Movement in India”, states that the 1912 meeting in Madras led to the forming of the Indian Library Association. The ILA is said to have declared 14 November as the National Library Day since 1968. 14^th to 20^th November is being celebrated as the National Library Week all over India and various programs are held to enhance readers’ awareness about libraries.

The Reading Promotion Week 2025 was celebrated at Library PM SHRI KV1, Alwar with great enthusiasm. The primary objective of this event was to encourage students to develop a habit of reading and to create awareness about the importance of books in shaping knowledge and personality. The week was packed with various activities aimed at enhancing reading skills and fostering a love for literature. 

Objectives of the Celebration

✔ To encourage students to read more books beyond their textbooks.

✔ To enhance vocabulary, comprehension, and analytical thinking skills.

✔ To introduce students to different genres of literature.

✔ To promote the school library and increase reading habits.

✔ To create a reading culture in school.

Impact & Outcomes

The Reading Promotion Week was a grand success, inspiring students to develop a strong reading habit and critical thinking. The enthusiastic participation and positive response from students, teachers, and parents showed the effectiveness of the initiative. Library plans to organize more such events in the future to sustain and nurture the love for books.

पुस्तक-चिकित्सक (Book Doctor)

A BOOK HOSPITAL:- This is a special attempt to make students the best friend of their book as their doctor. This is the way to attach the students with the books and to realise that the books also have pain when they are  misused and torn. In this way the students would be emotionally attached with the books and would feel that they also have the emotions like the human beings. A place for books that needs repair, has been set-up by Library PM SHRI KV Alwar to heal the tattering books. The book lovers students are working as a book doctors with their special Identity Cards. They are appointed who voluntarily came to forward. 

Aim:- If you find a book or magazine in our library that needs to be repaired, please place it in this almirah/box and the book doctor (students) will see to it as soon as possible.

AIM of the BOOK HOSPITAL

*To give proper training to take care of library books.

*To encourage students to take care when handling books as well as to identify books needing some 'medical' attention.

* Diagnoses their ailments and decides appropriate treatment.
